Finally got that new Elgin today!I'm pretty happy with it, it runs fine so far, the face is clean, as all the parts and the gold fill looks to be in excellent shape, no wear spots around it!BUT, the new 'crystal' is plastic, bleh! And it's not even being held in by anything but the movement itself, no glue. At least the band is new and actual leather.It doesn't really matter, i guess. The watch functions fine.Anyway, pictures!I'm not gona tell you all what I paid for it, I want you to guess ........
How Robust is the Valjoux 7750 Chronograh Movement?
The manual on my chronograph has a big caution not to hit the lower (reset) button while timing is in process. Reality being what it is, I have done this a couple of times. Each time, I have quickly recognized what happened, and have not tried to force the button in or push it repeatedly. There are no obvious untoward effects.As the Valjoux 7750 was designed to be a "workhorse" movement, not a the heart of a pampered museum piece, I would assume that, despite the "all caps" warning in the ma........
