JFA Four Watch Winder Is One Of My Favorites
James Feldman knows how to make a really nice watch winder. I don't know whether he knew this about himself before or after he founded JFA to makes watch winders, but I have been very impressed with the company's JFA Four Watch Winder. Further, JFA watch winders are made in Germany.I haven't used a ton of watch winders in my time as a watch lover, but enough to know what works well, and what just plain stinks. Some recent finds. Gruen and Elgin.
Heres a tasty piece of Gruen bling. Nice chunky hooded lugs, an OK dial, all motivated by my favorite Gruen 335 movement.The only this missing in my book is the USA stamp on the plates. This one says Unadjusted so Im assuming it was born in Switzerland. Very same movement that was made in Cincinnati.Next is a tiny Elgin with a grade 554 movement. Style wise it looks like a cousin of my Waterproof Sportwatch.Which leaves the 554 unexplained since it didnt show up until years later. Im thinki........
