Insane sniping on an Elgin auction.
Hard to believe Ebay sometimes. I was following an auction today for an Elgin 618 similar to the one in Mark's post American Bumper Automatic.I have a 607 movement in the same case.The watch up for auction was running but had a damaged 1 o'clock lug, the outer ring with the red 10 second markers was painted over, and the second hand was missing (possibly along with the tip of the seconds pinion).I bid high ($32) thinking I could use the original crown and the better of the two backs and crystals........
