The sun is having a major bout of solar flatulence (ok, not technically passing gas per se but...) today which some may interpret as the beginning of the process that will lead to the end of the world in December but I wonder if these solar flares are going to have any negative effects on: a) mechanical watches ( say, increased magnetism in the air) and b) quartz ( say, electro magnetic pulses).
