The only 1 hesitant to buy a watch that only works with a specific strap?

I have seen some great deals on watches that have non-standard straps and passed because I'm not sure what I could do if something went wrong with the strap. Even if it's a stainless bracelet, because I once had to special order a Seiko band that cost $65 for a couple hundred dollar watch, and that was in the '80's when $60 meant much more than it does now!........
