omega GMT Master II Wristband Question?

I recently acquired a mid 1990s vintage omega GMT Master II model 16710 with a model 78360 (Oysterlock?) bracelet. The bracelet has six links on either side (12 links total).It is VERY snug on my wrist and I would like to add a link.The problem is that the links appear to have a tapered progression from the widest links that are connected to the watchcase, to the much narrower links connect to the clasp.I am concerned about how to find a link having the right width so that it won't look strange........

My daughter opened this watch and throw away packing, then we realized that it does not work. When trying to set the mins only go to 7 and the hour only goes to 2. So the latest time it will show is 2:07.
