Deployment claps question

Will the deployment clasp fit onto a strap that originally came with a tang buckle? Or do you have to get a strap that specifically caters for the deployment? Because I've noticed that the strap that holds the buckle is shorter than the one that goes on a clasp. I would appreciate the info. Thanks!........

For the price it's a good value. It has a weird black patina that I think was meant to make it look burnished, but is just black. It is comfortable and keeps time well, so I'll keep it, but it looks like the price you pay for it.
