Beginner: did I buy the wrong mainspring?
Hi,I bought this mainspring for an Elgin Grade 64:image.jpgI put it in the main barrel today with a winder. The mainspring's inner end was still of center. With some effort I was able to install the barrel arbor. But there was no way to engage the tiny arbor pin in the spring hole. Bending the spring was also impossible. When removing the arbor the spring returned off center. I wonder, if I bought the wrong spring? I am a beginner and would be thankful for any help or tips.Cheers,Marco........
