When did outside engraving / inscriptions overtake internal inscriptions?
On many older Hamiltons (mid 1930s and earlier) there is often an inscription or personalization on the INSIDE of the case. At some point in time, these inscriptions moved to the outside of the back of the case.Can anyone tell me why older watches were inscribed on the inside (where it would rarely be seen)? And why did the convention change?........
