A little Elgin find livens up my month.
I havent been doing anything particularly interesting lately. Mostly tracking down parts and scavenging for Elgin 8/0 balances and hairsprings. If only Doug can get the cost of restaffing down under $20 I might be convinced to stop dismantling poor helpless grade 554s. I did stumble on one interesting Elgin in my searches.This is a vintage Elgin DeLux watch in a gold filled case. The case shows wear to the back. The movement is not running. Just Arrived: Lord Elgin with American made 30 jewel auto movement
Just got this in the mail today. The dial, markers, hands, and crystal are in primo shape. The front of the case looks wonderful as well and the rolled gold is uniform across the watch.The backit looks like someone tried to pry the case back offof course, this watch has a sealed case and the movement is accessed by popping the crystal off. So there are some scratches and dings back there.It winds and runs. I ordered a NOS expansion bracelet to match it and I'll post when I get it.The back of ........
