leather vs. stainless steel

I am interested in purchasing a khaki field chrono auto. I was wondering how durable this watch would be, and if it would be strong enough to be worn at work on the construction site. My current watch takes alot of abuse. I'm also wondering which type of strap would be a better choice, I'm undecided they both have pros & cons. Any input would be appreciated........

Signed Crowns...

As I get deeper into the vintage market, I have noticed that no matter which brand I look at, some watches have signed crowns while others don't. Not really a big deal, but there seems to be no rhyme or reason for why this is. Some of the higher end watches will not have a signed crown while a lower end watch will. So what gives here? What does a signed crown represent and does it have any real meaning?........

I love this piece. I fell for it last time Heidi was on[]. This time I was sure to get it.I was not disappointed. It is weighty but easy to wear. Very nicely done. Don't put it off because they go so fast and rightfully so.
