Irritating Issue - Advice Sought!
One thing I've noticed in some of my Elgins from the 1950s is that the dials are curved. Now, this would not be a problem if they'd sunk the sub-seconds dial, but they didn't. This means that the second hand, when it comes up to the top of its motion, will scrape the dial if you push it too far onto the post.
