Help with Omega 2254 rubber strap

I've a so called original rubber strap for the Seamaster (SMP) watch but when fitted it is loose against the watch case. They are fitting with straight spring bars, as I hear some people use curved (I think for the PO rubber strap though).The rubber strap I've is Omega's serial 98000085. This watch is very elegant. It has an understated and classic design that I just love. The dial face is not cluttered or excessively ornate. I can't beleive how low priced this watch was.
