Rub rub here, rub rub there.
Esrange offered up a Benrus automatic in a thread a month ago. I have had Benrus 3 star models on my list for a while but couldn't find a good match on Ebay, so I jumped. A little polish and a crown later:A few case issues aside, the dial is spectacular, the crystal polished up better than average and after prying apart the rusted two-piece stem, it has responded well to a little TLC.Its hard to get a good shot of the movement with that big rotor always in the way.Special thanks to Esrange, Joel........
Vintage watches...service required before use?
I got my first vintage watch (1940 Hamilton) from the bay. I wound it a few turns and it runs. I took the case back off and the movement looks pristine. So, can I use it as is or does a vintage watch have to be serviced before use? I read that you shouldn't run a watch "dirty and dry". Who knows when this watch was last serviced. I don't want to ruin the movement but I would like to just use it as is if it works. So, do I use it or service it before use?........
