Removing Link On Citizen Blue Angel Titanium

Has anyone removed a link on the Citizen titanium watch band? I got the pins out ok but Citizen says to install the tiny locking tube (split pipe) in the center link prior to installing the pin. Otherwise they say the pin will fall out. This is my third Casio Baby G watch. They are such great ducts! I bably don't use the watch to it's full potential, but I love that it has a DST option, vides the date, and lights up pink in the dark.
