Illinois Watch Case Discussion Part 2
Although Friedberg mentions "Generic Cases", I had no idea of the size of this part of the business to Illinois, even after its purchase by Hamilton. Apparently, a significant number of watches were sold with Star/Stellar, Philadelphia victory and Illinois Watch Case Co. cases. The difference between these and the ones on which Friedberg focuses are: 1) they were cased outside the factory (by jobbers or case manufacturers?); and 2) most were not named. All appear to be based on the Illinois 3........
