Cleaning a watch

I have an old watch that is a Hamilton and I wanted to clean the band. It was my mother's. I need to know how to separate the face to clean the band of it. And also the glass looks good but the face..is dirty. Can I clean that or does it have to be replaced? It's a mess. I know I am not giving enough information. Please let me know what information is needed. I would appreciate it if someone can tell me what to do.........

As noted by another reviewer, this supposedly 100m water resistant watch lets in water like a sieve. My first time in the pool, I looked at my watch after 1 lap of breaststroke, and the screen was out and filled with water.
