What Is The Purpose Of This Part Of My Watch Band Tool?

I picked up an adjustment tool when I bought my first watch (Kinda got addicted, and ended up buying one for my friend, and another for myself...) But anyways, I got the tool, simple enough to figure out how to use it. But it has this feature which I'm unable to figure out. It's got a screw that you can turn and it will move a platform back and forth that's on springs.Any info on what this is for? I could only think it's for adjusting where the band is on the tool, but why not just move the band........

I just received this watch today. It looked great when it came out of the box. There are a lot of interesting details inside the watch that add to its great look. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a skeleton watch.

I love Skagen watches so wehen this went on sale I jumped on it. I love the look of the watch but the clasp is very difficult to clasp and unclasp and I am not sure if I am going to keep it or return it because of that.
