watches with 24 hour dials instead of 12?
After looking into the watch/sun compass technique, I'm thinking about getting an affordable watch for hiking that has 1 - 24 on the dial instead of 1 - 12, and an hour hand that makes one full pass per day rather than two. Using such a watch, it is my understanding that if you point the hour hand at the sun, noon will point South and 0 (or 24) will point North. From what I can find, it's not as accurate as an actual compass, but will at least keep you going in one direction rather than in cir........
