Vintage Watch Repair Advice
I'm new here, though I've been lurking a while, and I was hoping for some advice. Apologies if this should in a different forum. I've got a 1940's era (at least I think) Gruen Curvex that belonged to my grandfather that I'm hoping to have restored. The watch still runs fairly well, and I've polished it and replaced the strap, but it still needs work (new mainspring, crystal, etc). I took it to a local shop here in DC and they wanted $450 for it. I'm not sure if that's steep or not, but the ........
