Problems with a screw (again !!).......seeking advice...

I took my watchmaker's screwdriver set and founda screwdriver that perfectly matched the grove on the screw. I knew this was very important and I checkedthe perfect fit up close - with a 20 x loupe.One side, screws 1 and 2 loosened up, lugs pulled out and strap cha........
How do you size a leather strap?
Unlike you giants, I frequently have to add an extra hole to my leather straps.I start by using the "tang" to make a dent inside the watch strap. Then measure the spacing between strap sides on existing holes. I mark the spot with ink, grab a small nail and hammer - and punch through. I finish off the new hole from the front side with an awl on a pocket knife.Do you have an easier way?........
