Will the watches of today become like the watches of yesterday?
One thing I've been wondering for a while is the "nature" of watch face deterioration. When you see vintage watches, even NOS, a lot of the time the face will have paint deterioration, the hands look all tarnished, etc. If you buy a brand new watch today, will the advances in technology mean that in 50 to 100 years the watch (as long as it's kept well, and maybe just mechancially serviced once every 5 years) show the same deterioration? Thanks :)........
Radium dials and hands -- how long did/do old original 1920's radium wristwatch glow?
I know that radium is radioactive for thousands of years as its half-life is around 1,600 years. I also know that radium is no longer used today, as this process stopped to a great deal by the 1960s. That said, how long should a typical 1920s radium watch dial and hands glow?
