Just Picked Up A Vintage Hamilton. Check Out Some Pics...
Hey guys, just picked up a Hamilton. I posted this in the general discussion forum as well. I figured I share some pictures with you guys. I bought the actual watch from a pawn shop and the strap from a jeweler. I think brown strap goes well with the gold tone case. The crystal has some scratches on in but I don't mind too much. It's an automatic but for some reason when I shake the case I can't hear anything moving. I'm going to wait until it stops ticking and then shake it around and see what........
Strap selection for vintage watches
Most vintage watches from the 1920's-1930's (especially Hamiltons) came on a tan (sometimes brown, black, or dark gray) pigskin strap. But some of my vintage watches just look "right" with the straps I've selected, and I can't imagine any other strap on them. Style, color, texture, stitching are all things to be considered, IMO.
