I'm a very avid cyclist, and whenever I build up a new frameset, the build isn't really "christened" or made official until I've ridden it for a few days and cut the steerer tube down to the right height. That cutting is kind of a ceremonious event that makes the bike deeply personalized, and thereby increasingly difficult to re-sell.
