What is the meaning of "Permaspring" ?

I have a vintage lady's watch of an obscure brand called Fleetwood (found nothing on it). On the dial it says Permaspring. Any idea what that means? Sometimes, but not always, the watch seems to wind indefinitely and I though it might represent an automatic but after 26 hours or so it started to slow down. I have not had it serviced and it's probably not working optimally. It's a watch I found at a bazaar and I'm sure it needs cleaning but in the meantime, it is keeping perfect time. I did find ........
