Platinum Elgin pocket watch
I guess this is the forum for Elgin and Gruen collectibles? Predepression time, before 1929, watch cases were elaborate and relatively expensive. There were many Swiss platinums, but only a few by Americans. Here is an odd one by Elgin. About same age as me. Dingy looking platinum on 14K gold. Not sure if it is, but dial does not have the usual silver degradation. I have heard that platinum appearance wiill improve with polishing but not with polish normally used for silver and gold.
