Illinois Pocketwatch Project Completed
I purchased this Illinois pocketwatch because I liked the way it looked and it was in dire need of care that it was unlikely to get if I had not purchased it. Between my purchase price and the cost of repairs I am certain I have far more into it than it is worth, but I am satisfied to know it is now a useful part of society. Interestingly, I have never had a watch, of any kind, that ticks as loud as this one does. Wow! It needed a new balance staff and a replacement jewel, was disassembled, ........

Last year I bought what I thought was a very nice Longines Conquest caliber 19ASD. The seller's (eBay ID of del-plata) photos from the listing made the dial look phenomenal:I was willing to break my own rule of not buying from South American sellers because of the risk of being scammed (ask Joe K about his issue) and the cavalier attitude they seem to have about the definition of "mint" and "original".
