My first mechanical in many years. . .

I've been doing a little light reading. . . as in the back of my new watch. The entire specs are on the caseback. The movement is an ETA 2804 and while I wind my automatics between wearings, today I wound the first mechanical since about 1975, my last mechanical, a 17 jewel model made by . . . . . . . . Hamilton. I've come full circle.........

Ok so what exactly is a "American watch" something that was simply assembled here and made with a standard movement that many other makers are using in the industry, or a watch that has a entire in house movement made here in America, assembled in America, and built by Americans? Just some clarification would be perfect for me, as I'm a little in the fog about it.........

I love this watch, but the paint chips off of the face. I returned my first one and the paint also has chipped off of the second one in only three weeks time.
