Vacheron Constantin 42100 Les Historiques, Yellow Gold

Lot 364 at Antiquorum’s March 4/5 New York auction exceeded expectations, bringing $2,096,000 including buyer’s premium. The lot included a silver keyless Zenith alarm pocketwatch formerly owned by Mahatma Gandhi and later given to his grandniece, Abha Gandhi. The watch dated from circa 1910 and it was accompanied in the sale by Gandhis sandals, bowl, plate, glasses, images of Gandhi, and letters of authenticity from Gita Mehta, Talatsahid Khan Babi, and Professor Lester Kurtz.........

My guess is that they are from the late 50s.I bought two Elgins with the 6811 case. One has a black dial with silver hour markers (which the photos do not do justice to it) and one with was once a white dial with wave patterns. The white dial has years of patina.Both cases had faint outlines of brushed sides. I took a fiber strand pen and rejuvinated the brushed metal.
