Plastic cases

I'm always on the lookout for my next watch. During one of these searches I came across a Swiss Legend with a clear plastic case. What is the general consensus with plastic on watches? How does it compare to a metal case other than the obvious aesthetics? I like the different look but would be hesitant to purchase if every couple of months I would have to send the watch in for service due to case cracks and such. What's your opinion?........

On only my third time wearing this watch, the clasp fell apart. If you read the warranty, they only cover the internal workings of the watch. I assure you this watch was not abused, it just simply failed during normal wear.
