Need help with a Seiko PMMM project

Hi everybody, I have a Seiko SKX007J4 and I love it, but there are some things on that watch that I feel they could be improved, those things are: a little less "sport" look on the dial and a clasp with more than two adjustment holes because the watch sits a little bit too loose or too tight on my wrist. Since I saw a picture of a PMMM (Poor Man's Marine Master) a couple of years ago, I always wanted to have one. So that's my project: building one out of some different parts. Help Identifying My omega

Can anyone help me identify the omega I recently inherited from my father. The research I have indicates a 1966-67 date, however the pictures for the Oyster Perpetual Explorer do not match what I see online. All online pictures indicate a round "peace" symbol on the hour hand, however mine does not and it is a strait hour hand with a slight indentation in it. The serial number I have is 1016 2126150. I understand that it was purchased during the Vietnam War in Saigon at the U.S. Military bas........
