To polish or not to polish....

Hello all,After 'lurking' for some time on the forum I feel its time to dip my toe in the water....so to say! I'm not sure of the pro's and con's polishing a vintage reference (during service at PP, I mean). Why do some people prefer to look for 'unpolished' versus polished? Is it an aesthetic argument, authenticity argument, personal preference or does it (in reality) reduce the value of the piece? I'd appreciate thoughts from the communityThanks!........

Very attractive watch with great price. love the titanium because of its lightness. a second hand would be nice. I like the DD watches because of how minimalist they really are, including this one, although it has a larger face.
