mechanical watch - time setting

I just tried to change the time on my mechanical watch (omega speedy pro) by plucking the crown outward. But to my surprise, the watch keep on going and does not stop. On my other automatic watches, once the crown is out, the watch stops running so that I can sync time. Is this different on a pure mechanical wind? Or is somethign wrong? Thanks!........
