Submariner band advice

After 18 years the band on my 1993 Submariner is about shot. Serious stretch...I'm looking for a temporary replacement since I don't have $1,000 to drop on a watch band right now. I've been thinking about finding a decent Seiko, Citizen etc stainless band to use for the next year or two. Also considering using one of the black rubber bands used on the better Seiko dive watches. Any potential issues other than offending the omega god's?? Total sacrilege..I know. .Since it's only temporary I........
