Vacheron Constantin Ping gold

Stopped by the Jewler today to have a look at the omega watches he had in stock. I struct up a conversation with the man behind the counter. He told me that in the many well to do circles of the world, omega is considered a low end or cheap watch. He said there is a lot of time pieces that are far better than the omega. He started to tell me about the Patek and a few others. I couldn't beleive what he told me. I always thought omega was rated numer one in the Horological world. I guess........

Diamond cap jewels on high grade movements from the turn of the century, real diamonds or just for show fakes? This picture is of a 21 jewel Riverside Maximus from about 1900, it has two diamond cap jewels. One above the balance wheel and one more just above the escapement wheel. I don't have anything powerful enough to get a real close look at these to make a good decision. I scored two movements with these jewels this week, one is from 1899 and the other is from 1900. Just want to know for fut........
