Dipping into the old end of the Elgin pool.
As some of you may have experienced, being inspired by Stan and his work can be a scary thing. I have recently dipped a toe into the deep waters of pre30's Elgins. First up is a 1927 3/0 size grade 462. This is the movement featured in many of Stan's Pershings. I picked it up on Ebay for $16 and change and ran it through the ultrasonic. It's keeping good time but the balance swing is less than 180 deg so I may need to look for a mainspring. It's in an Illinois Spartan nickel case. Is the engravi........
