The new Explorer
What omega should do:Re-design the Explorer as the ultimate tool watch for those of us who don't need polished center links and such. If I were in charge of the project, (I wish), here is what I would do:Build a new platform around a two watch line, GMT version and non GMT version.Use the 40mm Submariner case with perhaps a tegment process like used on Sinn for scratch resistanceWatreproof to 300M........
A little surgery to make a Frankenstein into a Lord Elgin Continental
A couple weeks ago, I posted about a Lord Elgin I got for $45. The case was alright, but the dial looked pretty good to me.Genejockey proceeded to tell me that it was a Continental and that the one I had had the wrong crystal, an improper redial, with the wrong fonts, wrong Elgin symbol, wrong crosshairs, and the 23 jewels was in the wrong spot. It was also missing the black enamel around the met........
Model question
Sorry for the lousy pictures.But does anyone know what model this is?The closest I can find in Shugart is the "Grover", 1951. The dial seems to be correct but the lugs just don't look right.........
Incoming and a very cool opportunity...
It's been a long time since I've been able to post an "incoming". Lately, I've really been wanting an understated, classic, properly sized chronograph and really couldn't come up with anything nicer, better, or richer history than the Speedy Pro. I know a lot of people have this model so it is somewhat ubiquitous but like a sub there's good reason for that.I'm very excited for my first Speedmaster........
