Replica Girard Perregaux Watches For Sale By Girard Perregaux
Girard-Perregaux is a very old and elite Swiss watchmaker. Today GP watches can and do compete with the biggest names in the business. GP takes great care to produce everything from the finest traditional dress watches in precious metal all the way to cutting edge haute horology pieces like the award winning Constant Escapement. With so many models, learning about GP can be daunting for some. That's why we've created this easy to understand introduction to GP that covers all the basic points.
The History
The beginnings of GP go back to all the way to 1791 when Jean-Francois Bautte founded his watchmaking company making the entirety of the watch in house in Geneva. Later, in 1852, watchmaker Constant Girard founded his own company. After he was wed to Marie Perregaux the name was changed to Girard-Perregaux in 1856. The two houses were merged in 1906, forming the modern GP that we know and love.
GP has more than just a long timeline to its name, however. The legendary Manufacture has over 80 patents and many milestones. GP produced the first ever mass produced wristwatch in 1880 which was used by German naval officers. 2000 watches were made for this purpose, the first significant production of a model of wristwatch in history. GP is also responsible for the high-frequency movement trend in the 1960s when it created the first high-beat movement, the Gyromatic HF. GP was also a major competitor in the famous 1960s chronometer competitions at Neuchatel. It received the Centenary Award from Neuchatel in 1967. As an aside, Timeless now carries both of the most successful brands from those competitions, Grand Seiko and GP.
