I'm preparing to make my first serious watch purchase and I have decided to go with IWC. I went to my local IWC distributor and tried on the XVI and really liked it. I really like the size and simplicity of the watch. I'm also considering the pilot chronograph, but I haven't seen one in person (watch shop didn't have one).
